2 Days Pamukkale, Aphrodisias and Ephesus Tour

Pamukkale is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature. The stunning white cascades of calcium springs are a sight to behold. The 17 hot water springs in Pamukkale are a result of the hot spring waters coming up to the surface and losing carbon dioxide, allowing the calcium bicarbonate to settle and create the mesmerizing white cascades that Pamukkale is famous for. Walking through Pamukkale is an unforgettable experience, and visitors even have the chance to relax in the hot water of the ancient pool.

Hierapolis, an ancient city built just above the hot spring waters of Pamukkale, is another must-visit destination. The city was built in the 2nd century BC by the King of Pergamon and later became a Roman city. Hierapolis has pagan roots and Christian traditions, making it a fascinating destination for history buffs and those interested in ancient ruins. As one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the remains of Hierapolis offer a glimpse into ancient life that is not to be missed.

Aphrodisias is an ancient city located in western Turkey, named after the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite. It was founded in the 5th century BCE and became an important center of the Roman Empire. The city was known for its extensive marble quarries and its reputation as a center for sculpture. The School of Sculpture in Aphrodisias produced some of the most beautiful and finely crafted statues in the ancient world, which can still be seen today in the city’s museum. Aphrodisias also had a large stadium, which hosted various athletic events including gladiator games. In the 4th century CE, the city became an important Christian center, and many of its ancient buildings were converted into churches. Despite being damaged by earthquakes and invasions over the centuries, the ruins of Aphrodisias remain remarkably well-preserved and offer a fascinating glimpse into the ancient past.

Finally, no visit to Turkey would be complete without exploring the famous ancient site of Ephesus. This busy trade center and port city had a significant impact on the ancient world and was also an important religious center for early Christianity. The city is surrounded by the Artemis Temple, Virgin Mary’s House, and The Church of Saint John, making it one of the most important tourist attractions in Turkey. As one of the seven churches mentioned in the Book of Revelations, Ephesus holds a special place in the hearts of many visitors.
