Ephesus Tour from International Izmir Cruise Port

Ephesus Ancient City is a historically significant port city that was once part of the Ionian League during the Classical Greek Era. Situated in modern-day Turkey, its remarkably preserved ruins are a testament to the city’s ancient glory. For Christians, the city holds a special place in their hearts due to its close association with prominent figures such as Mother Mary, St. Paul, and St. John The Evangelist.

The Artemis Temple, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World in its time, was a massive marble structure located by the seaside. The temple was dedicated to Artemis, the goddess of hunt, chastity, childbirth, and wild animals. Although the temple was once destroyed by the infamous Herostratus, the resilient Ephesians rebuilt it.

Mother Mary’s House, situated at the foot of Mount Nightingale in Selcuk, is a revered Catholic shrine. It was discovered in the 19th century thanks to Anne Catherine Emmerich’s vision. The house is believed to be where Virgin Mary resided for three years before her passing. Pope Pius XII officially recognized the area as a Holy Place and a Catholic place of pilgrimage in 1951 during his visit, and since then, millions of visitors from all over the world have come to pay their respects.
